Als Crossover (engl. Überschneidung, Kreuzung, Überquerung) bezeichnet man die gleichzeitige Platzierung eines Songs, der einem bestimmten Musikgenre zuzuordnen ist, in mindestens zwei, nach Musikgenres getrennten Hitparaden. Der Begriff wurde in den 40er Jahren geprägt, als die hitparadenmäßige Trennung von Musikstilen die Regel war. Als später Fusionen zwischen Rock und anderen Genres entstanden und man nicht sicher war, wohin die Songs einzuordnen waren, erhielt der Begriff einen leicht veränderten Inhalt.
