Rave, aus dem Englischen für ?rasen, schwärmen, toben, fantasieren?, ist ein während der Acid-House-Bewegung ab dem Second Summer of Love 1989 entstandener Begriff für Tanz-Veranstaltungen mit elektronischer Musik. Auf diesen Partys wurde der konzeptionelle Schwerpunkt erstmals auf ekstatischen Tanz gelegt. In deren Mittelpunkt stehen vor allem die DJs. Ein ähnliches Konzept gab es zwar bereits in Form von Diskotheken, neu war jedoch, dass diese in Form von so genannten ?One-off?-Events (einmalige Veranstaltungen) in eigens dafür präparierten Locations, wie Konzerthallen, Warehouses, leerstehenden Häusern und ähnlichem durchgeführt wurden.
