Industrial ist eine Kunst- und Musikrichtung, die sich ab der Mitte der 1970er-Jahre weltweit aus Elementen der experimentellen und Avantgarde-Musik sowie der Konzept- und Aktionskunst entwickelte. Der Begriff entstammt ursprünglich dem englischen Label Industrial Records, das kollektiv von den Mitgliedern der Band Throbbing Gristle gegründet und geführt wurde, die eine zentrale Position im frühen Industrial innehatten. Seine Wurzeln hat der Industrial neben der englischen Szene auch in den Vereinigten Staaten.
